15th Annual Ohio Novice State Tournament

Saturday December 19, 2026

Where:                       Glass City Center ------ 401 Jefferson Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43604

Date & Time:            Saturday December 19, 2026 -

                                    Session 1: Boys Division 1, 3, 5 Girls 2, 4 - Starts at 9:00am

                                    Session 2: Boys Division 2, 4, 6, Girls Divisions 1, 3 - Starts roughly around 1pm

Awards:                     1^st-6^th medals and custom award for Champion.

Registration:            Registration andentry fee of $55 must be done online at OhioAthletics.com by Sunday December 13, 2026 at midnight  OR when we have 1,200 PAID wrestlers.

Registration will jump to $70 on November 29, 2026 - 2 weeks before reg closes

NO REFUNDS      Registration  closed  early in 2024 & 2025 & 2026.    

Matches:                   Modified OHSAA rules, three 1 minute periods, Double Elimination, 12pt. technical, Certified Officials

2027 Rule Updates:  Headgear is required – 32 wrestlers MAX per weight class.

If you do not make weight you will be bumped to the next weight class with openings.

Admission:                $15 per person (6 and under free). Good for both sessions.

Coaches Bands:       All coaches, or anyone sitting in a chair, must wear a coaches band ($35). Includes   admission. Good for both sessions.  

Qualifications:         To be qualified a wrestler MUST meet ALL requirements:

1. Must be an Ohio resident

2. 3 years or less experience - this can be their 3rd year of wrestling

3. No OAC state qualification.  Does NOT include the current season.

**For D1 Only - Can be a returning OAC D1 qualifier, but not a placer.

4. No returning Ohio Novice State Finalists (1st or 2nd Place - unless 6 or less in in bracket)

5. No top 4 placement in any national tournament with more than 6 in a bracket.

6. All wrestlers MUST have a COPY of  their Birth Certificate onsite in the event of an age challenge. *Digital is ok*?

**Girls Requirements - Girls can only wrestle in ONE division**

No top 4 placement  if more than 6 wrestlers in ANY state or national tournament.

Does not include the current season.     All other qualifications also apply to girl wrestlers.

Due to the date change we will not have a Junior High Division for the 2027 Ohio Novice State. No 7th or 8th Graders are allowed to participate.

Please note our divisions are not the same as other tournaments.
